Juvenile Emergency Shelter Care

Clarinda Academy Shelter provides a safe, nurturing environment where youth can deal with the current crises in their lives. This unique setting provides an opportunity for children to be away from the stresses of their lives, in an environment that is also free from outside interruption. The small dorm gives the students an opportunity to have more individualized attention and services. While in Clarinda Academy’s shelter setting, youth have 24-hour staff supervision, access to school, counseling and therapeutic services. Upon admission, the child, their family, placing worker, and the shelter case worker collaborate with Clarinda’s treatment teams to develop an individualized service plan to meet the specific needs of the student. This includes, but not limited to, family and community connections, physical and mental health, education, and reintegration planning.
