Summer Olympics

Clarinda Academy Summer Olympics is a 3-day event of fun, competition and dorm pride. This event serves as a great time for both staff and students to get outside and have some fun as well as develop relationships. Each dorm spends time leading up to the Summer Olympics creating a dorm chant, shirt and banner to represent themselves throughout the games. Students focus on using teamwork and communication skills to help each other be as successful as possible. Dorms compete in a series of both individual and team events, earning points in each event for finishing 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

Over the course of the 3 days, students compete in events such as egg toss, 5-man sled push, free throw shootout, wheelbarrow races, tire toss, hula hooping, races on inflatable obstacle courses and hamster balls, and everyone’s favorite - the dorm tug-of-war. On the final day of Summer Olympics, both staff and students compete side by side in the Grand Finale event leading into the announcement of the winner of the Summer Olympic games.
